The Second NCU Alumni Association Cayman Chapter Scholarship

 

The Cayman Chapter of the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Alumni Association (ACKy) has announced its second scholarship awardee, Ms. TRevon Dixon, who began studies at NCU in fall 2020.  Ms. Dixon is studyng for a bachelor's degree in social work.

 

The four-year scholarship will cover tuition, books and board at the Mandeville-based university.

 

The first scholarship was awarded to Sonia Asharie Bailey is pursuing a bachelor's degree in education.  She entered her second year at NCU on a donor-funded scholarhip, offered through the Cayman Chapter of the NCU Aumni Association.

 

Among pre-requisites for application for the second NCU ACKy scholarship is acceptance by NCU and Caymanian status.

Northern Caribbean University´s Accomplishments in IT

NCU has been a leader in the information technology, business and science fields regionally and internationally, as evidenced by more than 30 local and international awards since 2005.

 

Among recent achievements, NCU retained its first place in the National Science and Technology Competition hosted by the Scientific Research Council (SRC) of Jamaica, on July 4, 2019.  (See recent report in Jamaica Observer:

Other Jamaica and international wins for NCU include the

  • Microsoft Imagine Cup, on behalf of Jamaica (2010);

  • International Business Model Competition (2018);

  • Girls in ICT Caribbean Hackathon (2017-2018);

  • National Science and Technology Competition (2018-2019); and

  • first runner up in the Girls in ICT Caribbean Hackathon (2019).

 

NCU is among three universities in Jamaica that are fully accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ).

Brief information on NCU

Away from the hustle and bustle of Kingston, NCU is located in the town of Mandeville, some 2,200 feet above sea level in the cool climes of the parish of Manchester. 

 

Manchester, which is also known as the parish with one of the highest densities of educational institutions in Jamaica, is home to the main campus of the NCU campus that has been in operation for more than a century. The university has three other campuses, two in the western region and one in the eastern region of Jamaica.

WHO MAY QUALIFY:

There are no scholarhips currently on offer. 

 

For future scholarshps, Caymanians (including persons with Caymanian status) may apply. A prerequisitve is acceptance by NCU.

 

FIELDS OF STUDY:  

Any faculty of choice leading to a bachelor's degree at NCU.
